It's quite a story about the start of James&Co to where we are now. And it's a great story. A story of the number of incredible pivots the James&Co brand has undergone since then. The mantra for the founder and the brand is ‘I do not give up’!!
The brand started in 2012 as a B2C and B2B business with the focus on women's vegan and cruelty-free faux leather jackets and accessories. Example images below. James&Co set out to be the true women's fashion and lifestyle brand that effortlessly combined style + sustainability + doing good.
As awareness of the toxicity of the materials used with the descriptor ‘vegan leather’ grew and wonderful innovator manufacturers started to develop leather-look alternatives made with plants not synthetic plastics, we stopped our jackets and accessories made with plastic leather-look materials.
We have diversified out products into broader fashion and lifestyle offerings and are wholesale only working as retailers as partners.
We have focussed on introducing new and emerging sustainable fabrics in our products to the Australian market: cork leather fabric, washable paper, cotton and hemp. On the way are products made in the new and innovative tomato leather.
